We asked a random sample of 30 college coaches whether or not they would take a chance to watch a player who emailed them without a highlight video, and 28 of them said they would not randomly go watch a player without a highlight video. The reason for this is that without a way to gauge the approximate level of a player, coaches can’t justify spending the time/money/effort it takes to go watch games or showcases.
This is why having a really strong highlight video, one that showcases all of your best attributes as a player, is crucial! You need to use a highlight video to make a strong first impression, one that makes the college coach WANT to come to watch you play and engage with you in the recruiting process.
