Deciding Which Clips to Use
Regardless of what position you play, you need to showcase yourself in many different facets of the game. A good rule of thumb is to include the areas of the game that you/your position directly influences the game with.
For example, if you’re a striker, you need to show:
- Scoring goals
- Getting assists
- Runs in the box (and hopefully scoring goals) on set pieces
- Playing back to goal and receiving passes
- Winning balls in the air with your head, and taking touches out of the air
- Your movement and passing in the build-up phase
- Your movement in the attacking third
- Pressing ability
Essentially, college coaches want to see you doing the things that are going to help them win games. They don’t need to watch the tricks, megs, etc. because those are not the things you’ll be expected to do well at the next level.
