Put your absolute best clips at the start
Have a cover page with your height, weight, position, team, number, academic profile, email, etc.
Make sure you are easily identifiable. Use an arrow, circle, etc. to make sure the coach knows who you are in the video clip.
Show clips from the highest level you play at. Coaches want to see you against the best youth competition possible.
Keep music professional. The best bet is to use instrumental music without lyrics.
GK’s you can use training video to supplement game footage (not for field players though)
Update and create a new highlight video every 6 months. As you get better and more mature as a player, it only makes sense to capture that in an updated video every so often.
Don’t
Break the video up into segments (remember to put all your best clips at the start!)
Use slow-mo or re-show clips. Coaches can use the scroll bar to go back and watch any part they wish.
Show a clip where the opponent makes a mistake. For example, a goal you scored because the goalkeeper let it through their hands.
Show skills, juggling, etc. that aren’t in a game…don’t use backyard footage!
